Calgary Pet & Pad Sitters is run by two pet-loving humans (husband and wife team).

Larry - a chef by profession who’s naturally calm, attentive, and focused on service, and Patricia - an entrepreneur with over 15 years of business experience and a soft spot for cats and shy pets. Together, we’ve created a service that’s not just about checking boxes. It’s about building trust, connection, and comfort for both pets and their people.

We may be new to the Calgary pet care scene, but we’re not new to showing up with heart. Whether it’s feeding schedules, cuddle preferences, or keeping a watchful eye on your home, we care for everything as if it were our own.

We lovingly care for a variety of pets, including:

1. Cats
2. Bunnies
3. Hamsters and Gerbils
4. Guinea Pigs
5. Reptiles

If your pet isn’t listed here, don’t hesitate to reach out! We’re always happy to chat and see if we’re the right fit for your animal family.

What areas do you serve?
  • We serve Calgary’s greater NW quadrant (all communities) to ensure reliable care no matter the weather. We also serve select SW communities that are within a 15 km radius of Evanston NW.

For areas further south or east in Calgary, or other nearby areas such as Airdrie, please inquire — additional travel fees may apply.

What are your business hours? Can we request a specific visit time?

We operate from Monday to Sunday, 8 am to 4 pm Mountain Time. All visits are scheduled to take place within that window.

Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee exact visit times or time ranges (like morning or afternoon). This flexibility helps us manage routes efficiently, handle urgent needs like medications, and give each pet the time and care they deserve—without rushing.

If your pet has time-sensitive medical needs, let us know and we’ll do our best to prioritize accordingly.

What are your rates?

Our standard rate starts at $28 per visit, which includes 30 minutes of care.

This base rate covers up to 2 pets in the same household. If you have more than 2 pets, there’s an additional fee of $5 per extra pet.

Need a bit more time? You can add an extra 15 minutes to your booking for an additional $15—perfect if you’d like us to spend extra time watering outdoor plants or getting in more playtime with your pets. Note that this is available only as a top-up to a 30-minute visit.

All dates that fall on Alberta statutory holidays will have a $15 surcharge.

Do you charge for the Meet & Greet or the Key Pickup?

No, we do not charge for either! We only charge for the actual bookings of caring for your pets and/or home.

What type of payments do you accept?

We currently accept payment via e-transfers only. All invoices are sent from our online payment system for easy reference.

Do you offer discounts for extended or long-term bookings?

Absolutely! We truly value our repeat clients and are happy to offer discounts for extended bookings. Here’s how it works:

8+ days – 5% off

  • 15+ days – 10% off

  • 30+ days – 15% off

If you’re planning a longer trip or need regular care, feel free to reach out—we’d love to work something out that suits your needs!

Can I book same-day services?

Yes! We do our best to accommodate last-minute requests. Please note that this is subject to availability and is not guaranteed.

Do you administer medications?

Yes, we’re happy to administer oral medications, including:

  • - Pills

  • - Liquid medications

  • - Pre-mixed medications with food

For the safety of both your pet and our team, we are unable to administer medications to pets with a known history of aggression, including biting or lunging at people.

We do not administer injections or handle complex medical procedures. For safety and accuracy, we ask that all medications be clearly labeled with instructions provided in advance.

If your pet requires medication, please let us know during booking so we can ensure proper care.

Why do you require daily visits? Can I book every other day instead?
  • We understand that some pet parents might wonder why we require daily visits, even if their pets seem low-maintenance. Our top priority is your pet’s safety and well-being, and daily check-ins help us ensure they’re healthy, comfortable, and secure while you’re away.

A lot can happen in 48 hours. A tipped-over water bowl, a missed meal, a litter box issue, or a sudden health concern can quickly become serious if left unnoticed. By visiting every day, we can promptly catch and address any issues, give your pet the companionship they need, and give you daily peace of mind with updates and photos.

Why is your Home Security Visit also priced for 30 minutes if there are no pets?

Great question! Even without pets, our Home Security Visit includes a full range of services designed to keep your home safe and lived-in while you're away.

During the 30-minute visit, we:

  • 1. Walk through the property to check for any signs of damage, forced entry, or anything unusual

  • 2. Bring in mail, packages, or flyers to avoid a vacant appearance

  • 3. Water indoor or outdoor plants (if requested)

  • 4. Adjust lights or blinds to create the impression that someone’s home

  • 5. Shut off outdoor water valves in the winter
    6. Ensure all doors, windows, and security systems are properly secured.

Additionally, to make the drive and visit worthwhile regardless of your location within our service area, we apply our minimum rate and time block of 30 minutes.

This allows us to provide consistent, high-quality service while fairly compensating our team for travel and time.

Why should I hire a professional pet sitter instead of asking a friend or neighbor?
  1. Hiring a professional pet sitter means hiring fully trained, insured, and experienced professionals in pet care. All members of our team are certified in Pet First Aid and CPCR.

Calgary Pet & Pad Sitters is a proud holder of the CPPS® (Certified Professional Pet Sitter®) designation by Pet Sitters International (PSI). This certification separates us from hobbyists and casual sitters, demonstrates our knowledge, and distinguishes us as qualified and competent professionals.

Do you care for pets with special needs?
  1. Yes. We're happy to care for pets with special needs, whether that means giving medication (liquid, pills, or pre-mixed with food), following a special feeding routine, or simply offering extra patience and gentleness. We know that every pet is unique, and we’re committed to making them feel safe and loved while you're away.

That said, it’s important that your pet’s care needs fall within our scope of expertise to ensure we can provide them with the attention they truly deserve. We’ll always be upfront during our initial consultation about what we can confidently and safely handle. If a pet’s condition requires medical-level care or highly specialized attention, we may recommend a trusted alternative, such as a vet tech service.

Your pet’s well-being is our top priority—and we’ll never take on care we’re not fully equipped to provide.

Will you clean up pet messes and accidents?

Mess and accidents are a normal part of pet care—especially when routines change. If we come across a mess during our visit, we’ll take care of it with care and compassion, doing light cleanup to keep your home tidy and your pet comfortable.

Please note that our cleanup is limited to light messes only. If we encounter something more serious, or if there’s a risk we might cause damage by cleaning improperly (for example, with certain surfaces or materials), we’ll pause and contact you for guidance before proceeding, or wait for you to come home.

Our goal is always to keep your pet safe and your home in good shape, while respecting your space and preferences. You’ll receive an update if anything needs your attention.

Can someone else be in the home while Pet & Pad Sitters is caring for my pets?

For everyone’s safety—including your pets, home, and our sitters—we kindly ask that we be the only person entering your home during your scheduled booking.

This helps us ensure that:

  • 1. Your pets have a calm, consistent environment

  • 2. We can fully take responsibility for the home during our visit

  • 3. There’s no confusion about who did what, especially when it comes to feeding, litter scooping, or medication

  • 4. Our team members feel safe and secure, without worrying about unexpected strangers in the home

If a friend or family member absolutely needs to access your home during our scheduled visits, please let us know in advance. We’ll work with you to coordinate timing and responsibilities so there’s no confusion or overlap.

Our priority is delivering reliable, stress-free care while maintaining full accountability.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change! If you need to cancel, you can do so up to 7 days before your scheduled visit with no penalty.

Instead of a refund, we’ll provide you with a full credit that you can use toward any future booking. Your credit will be valid for 12 months, giving you plenty of time to reschedule when it’s right for you.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept cancellations made less than 7 days before the visit, as that time has already been reserved for your pets.

Will there be times when you're unavailable due to vacation or personal time?

To maintain the quality of our care, we usually take 4–5 weeks off each year. We’re committed to giving our clients early notice of any breaks so you’ll have time to explore other options if needed.

Can I leave a tip for your services?

Tips are never expected but always appreciated. If you’d like to leave a tip, you’re welcome to do so through our current method of payment.

Away from home? We’ve got you covered.

Trust us to care for your pets and home like they’re our own.
